Spokane Valley Fire Chief: Courage Matters

"It takes a lot of courage to be a firefighter." Not just the 'hero' kind, but the courage to believe in yourself." Chief Bryan Collins, Spokane Valley Fire Department.

“It takes a lot of courage to be a firefighter.” Not just the ‘hero’ kind, but the courage to believe in yourself.” Chief Bryan Collins, Spokane Valley Fire Department.

Earlier this month, Spokane Valley Fire Department Chief Bryan Collins visited Broadway Elementary students to speak, in part, about the PACE character trait of the month: courage. During his time with them he noted that it, in addition to courage, “takes a lot of commitment, hard work and effort to be a firefighter”. Chief Collins also related that it is his job to help care for the community and that any one of the students there could become a firefighter one day.

Thank you to Chief Collins for helping PACE get the word out that by working toward good character now, students will be better prepared to be courageous and committed public servants and community members in the future.
