PACE Partner of the Month: Communities in Schools

The PACE leadership team would like recognize Communities in Schools as the Partner of the Month for April.

Communities In Schools of Spokane County (CISSC) is part of the the nation’s leading dropout prevention organization, working in public schools to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.

This school year CISSC is on track to match 350 PrimeTime Mentors in over 35 schools in 6 school districts in Spokane County. CISSC incorporates the PACE monthly character traits into their PrimeTime Mentoring program by providing mentors with meaningful conversation ideas around the character trait.

Spokane County Struggling students and their families have a hard time accessing and navigating the maze of public and private services. There may be ample resources in a community, but rarely is there someone on the ground who is able to connect these resources with the schools and students that need them most. Through a school-based coordinator, we bring these local resources into the school where they are accessible, coordinated and accountable. The CISSC school coordinator works closely with students to set goals, make good choices and strengthen their character.
